Bar|Scan Software Bar|Scan®
is a complete bar code asset management system that provides specialized
software designed to meet a company's enterprise-wide asset information
needs.

Bar|Scan uses the accuracy of bar codes
and powerful portable bar code readers to more accurately track your computers,
equipment, furniture, and other resources in less time than a manual
inventory.
Accounting, Facilities, MIS, and
Purchasing departments can share Bar|Scan asset information on a network-wide
basis resulting in better communication without duplicating efforts.
Flexibility is the key to Bar|Scan. It works equally well in a warehouse or
office environment.

Using Microsoft ClickOnce deployment
technology, the Bar|Scan Smart Client can be installed throughout your
environment for quick access to your Bar|Scan assets.
Once installed, users can browse, sort,
add, edit or print assets. Filters can be assigned by user password so that
only assets in their area of responsibility are accessible.


For Standard Bar|Scan Installation the
recommended minimum system requirements are:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3
- Microsoft Windows XP or later
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or later
- Super VGA 800 X 600 or higher-resolution monitor with
256 colors
- Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
- For Workstations that communicate with Pocket PC
device, must allow installation of:
- Windows Mobile Device Center or Microsoft
Activesync
- Must have USB port or WiFi for synchronization
For Bar|Scan SmartClient Installation
the recommended minimum system requirements are:
SERVER: Supported Server Operating
Systems:
- Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
- Must allow installation of:
- Microsoft Internet Information Services
- Microsoft .NET 3.0
CLIENT: Supported
Workstation:
- Windows XP Service Pack 2
- Windows Vista
- Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 7.0

Bar|Scan, Inc. no longer supports the use
of its products on operating systems that have been retired by Microsoft. See
Microsoft for their official list. Bar|Scan may or may not run on these retired
systems but we can not provide technical support for Bar|Scan running on these
operating systems. Additionally, these include, but are not limited to, Windows
98, Windows ME and Windows NT. Note especially that Windows NT Terminal server
is not supported.
Please note that Microsoft retired both
mainstream and extended support of Windows NT as of June 2004. We highly
recommend that you use a more recent version, such as Windows XP. However, for
the convenience of our customers we still include the legacy service packs for
Windows NT 4.
Windows NT 4
Installation
Bar|Scan may or may not run on Windows NT
4 even with the service packs installed.
However, if you wish to make the attempt
service pack 6 or higher must be applied. For your convenience Service Pack 6a
is included with this distribution. Later service packs are available from
Microsoft by CD or Internet download.
To install the Service Pack execute the
'sp6i386.exe' file in the 'NT4 Service Pack 6a' folder within this
distribution. Follow the prompts. You will likely have to reboot your computer.
